Daniel Mantei Choreography, Dance, and Movement
Daniel’s work “plays entrancingly with gravity— ingeniously stealing it from the physical dimension and infusing it into the emotional realm."
Daniel's choreography is deeply inspired by the communicative and healing potential of dance, movement, and the human body. He sees the nurturing quality of touch, the medicinal properties of movement, and the inherent human drive to express ourselves through dance as intrinsically linked. This perspective shapes his ballet-inspired choreography, where he explores themes of humanism, justice, and solidarity through movement that is healthy, naturalized, and humanized. He believes dance serves as a powerful thread connecting time, space, and music, fostering beautiful moments of collective "presencing" – people coming together being fully attentive in the moment.
Daniel has extensive experience in creating movement and choreography. He has composed ballets for renowned institutions including American Ballet Theatre, The Seattle Symphony, New York Theatre Ballet, Columbia Ballet Collaborative, Avante Chamber Ballet, and The Ensemble for the Romantic Century. His commissioned works extend to students across a wide spectrum of ages and ability levels.
